Geert Wilders is not prime minister

[edit]

Geert Wilders is incorrectly named prime minister of the Netherlands. Current outgoing prime minister is Mark Rutte. Even though Geert Wilder’s party won last election, he will not be prime minister as agreed with the other three forming parties. Succeeding prime minister after last election is not decided yet. 87.212.254.148 (talk) 20:14, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The two BBC News profile links at Netherlands § External links go to the same page. I suggest removing one - the second, since that old URL now redirects. --Talky Muser (talk) 19:29, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What's in a name

[edit]

Following what I assume to have been a demand request from the Netherlands Government, many (if not most/all) United Nations agencies/organizations are now using "Kingdom of the Netherlands" in reference to the "constituent country" in Europe. How does this square with the the notion that (some of the?) the overseas territories are also part of the Kingdom?—GRM (talk) 15:19, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Two entities can have the same name, or be used to define different aspects of a single but amorphous entity. I'd be interested in seeing a source on the UN terminology. CMD (talk) 15:22, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is a United Nations editorial guide online, which points (or used to) to a database for terms. Unfortunately, that link was never very helpful to me. I "fear" the change is too recent to have made it into the latest style guides, but I know WHO and FAO have adopted this—GRM (talk) 16:26, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The map of the Netherlands and its provinces almost at the end is not entirely correct. There are 3 areas indicated as Flevopolder, but the one in which the word Flevo is written, is called Noordoostpolder, or in English Northeastpolder. The other 2 are indeed Flevopolders (multiple) as one is East Flevoland and the other is South Flevoland. Please correct this. 2A02:A46A:2F3:1:F727:6E25:85B7:1B92 (talk) 12:38, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: correcting a map is not an edit request. Feel free to ask for help on WP:GL/M. M.Bitton (talk) 21:08, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Misinformation

[edit]

This is just one example "the Netherlands stayed neutral in world war 1", that is not accurate, the Netherlands did not exist at the time,it was the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Netherlands did not exist until December 29 1954 [1][2], UnsungHistory (Questions or Concerns?) (See how I messed up) 18:15, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think that would be overly formal. The Kingdom and the country were the same as I understand. And referring to the Netherlands makes it more readable. Dajasj (talk) 18:37, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
